This optional excursion is available to pre-book or you can book during your tour.
Today’s adventure takes us to the magical Isles of Scilly. We depart early and make our way to Penzance for the sailing to St Mary’s, the largest of the islands.
Enjoy free time to explore the quaint centre with its inviting shops and cafés, take in the stunning coastal scenery, or simply relax and watch the boats gliding in and out of the bustling harbour.
At the heart of the island lies Hugh Town, the main hub where the Scillonian docks. Here, you’ll find a charming mix of shops, churches, cafés, and galleries, along with three beautiful beaches – Porthcressa, Porthmellon, and Town Beach – each offering the perfect spot to unwind and watch island life drift by.
Please note: Due to the early departure and late return of this excursion, a breakfast box will be provided, and dinner will be served as a light supper. It’s recommended to take suitable clothing and footwear, as the weather can be unpredictable. The sailing typically takes between 2 hours 45 minutes and 3 hours, depending on tides and weather conditions. As the ship enters the Atlantic, it passes a point where several ocean currents meet, so the sea can occasionally become choppy. Passengers who are prone to motion sickness may wish to bring their own medication, as none is available on board. Sailings to the Isles of Scilly are subject to weather and operational conditions, and an alternative excursion may be offered.
Spend today at leisure and enjoy Newquay, one of the nation’s favourite seaside resorts. Unwind at a beachside café, feel the ocean breeze at world-famous Fistral Beach, or simply watch the surfers ride the waves. Those keen to explore can browse the independent shops or follow the coastal path for spectacular sea views and a true taste of Cornwall’s charm.
We visit the Cornish town of Padstow, a charming fishing port surrounded by stunning beaches and famed for its culinary reputation, thanks in large part to Rick Stein. Steeped in history, Padstow lies on the ancient pilgrim route known as the Saints’ Way and boasts a working harbour believed to date back to around 2500 BC.
This afternoon, we continue to Port Isaac, the much-loved filming location of 'Doc Martin'. With its whitewashed cottages, winding streets, and historic harbour, this beautiful village captures the essence of coastal Cornwall. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring before we return to Newquay.
Today we visit Falmouth to delve into Cornwall’s fascinating maritime past. Founded in 1613, the town quickly grew into a thriving port, welcoming ships from Africa, India, the Americas, and Australasia. Today, it is home to the National Maritime Museum, where our included entrance offers a chance to uncover Cornwall’s rich seafaring heritage.
This afternoon, on our return to Newquay, we stop in Truro – Cornwall’s only city – renowned for its impressive cathedral and beautifully preserved medieval character.
Return home.
